The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings picking up a big victory Tuesday night, as they edged past the Regina Rangers 2-1 at Crescent Point Place. With the win, the WIngs improve to 9-10-2-1 on the season

The closely fought game saw no scoring in the first period, with Weyburn goaltender Matt Dutchak, and his counterpart from the Rangers Boston Gelowitz, shutting the door at both ends. Once the second period started, though, it didn’t take long for the deadlock to be broken.

Regina would be first on the board when Walker Jerome scored 1:18 into the second period. He was assisted on the goal by Hunter Degelman.

Weyburn didn’t wait long to reply.

Hudson Hall scored his fifth of the campaign just over three minutes later. The even-strength tally was assisted by Brogan Schmeltzer and Kale Williamson.

Neither team would find the back of the net for the rest of the second period, but once the third started, Tanner Rowland made short work of the deadlock. Just 56 seconds into the period, Rowland would beat Gelowitz, giving the Wings a 2-1 lead. Rylan Erb and Gavin Doud were credited with the assists on the goal.

From there, Dutchak turned away all 11 shots he faced in the period to preserve the win.

The next game for the Midget AA Wings will be on Saturday. They will take on the Midget Terriers in Yorkton.
