The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings played two road games on the weekend and came back with a win and a loss. The Wings were beaten 4-2 by the Estevan Midget Bruins on Friday, before bouncing back and doubling up the Lumsden Lions on Saturday with a 6-3 final.

In the game on Friday, the Bruins jumped out to a lead in the second period, with Tanner Stovin scoring just 1:42 into the frame with an unassisted short-handed tally. Chase Wilson didn’t waste time in replying for the Wings, as he scored just 30 seconds later, assisted by Brogan Schmeltzer and Hudson Hall. Baron Lawrence gave the Wings the lead just over two minutes later with a power-play goal assisted by Tanner Rowland. It would be all the offence the Wings could muster.

The Bruins would tie things up on a goal from Brennan Stubel in the third period before Stovin completed the hat trick with two goals in the final three minutes of the game to give the Bruins the win.

Saturday, the Wings made the trip to Lumsden for a game against the Lions.

Rylan Neiszner got things started for the Wings with an unassisted goal with 7:28 left in the opening frame. He would then make it a 2-0 lead 2:39 into the second, assisted by Spencer Ordahl and Lawrence.

The Lions would score a power play goal to pull within one before Lawrence scored a goal just before the halfway mark of the period. Neiszner recorded his third point of the night with an assist on the marker.

The Lions would score once more before the end of the second, but the Wings would then pull away in the third.

Gavin Doud restored the two-goal lead with an unassisted power play tally at the 6:33 mark of the third period. Lumsden would score one more goal before Sam Chittenden added two more goals for Weyburn to give them the 6-3 final. Cooper Kopec assisted the first goal, with Hudson Hall getting credit for the helper on the second.

After splitting the weekend, the Wings improved to 7-8-0-1 on the season. They will look to move to the .500 mark on Friday when they take on the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox.
