The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings coming up just 38 seconds short of a tie against the Melville Midget Millionaires Sunday in Melville. The home team scored in the dying seconds of overtime to secure the victory.

The Wings got on the board first, when Todd john scored on the power play 5:39 into the opening frame. The unassisted marker was the tenth goal of the year for Johnson.

Braden Birnie then extended the lead to two goals early in the second period. Just 53 seconds into the period, his 13th of the campaign was assisted by Kyler Douglas and Spencer Ordahl.

The Millionaires would rally back in the third to tie the game up, with two goals from Blake Nicholson in less than two minutes. The Wings would regain the lead, though, as Gavin Doud notched a power-play goal. The go-ahead goal, Doud’s third of the year, was assisted by Kyler Douglas and Matthew Anderson.

The lead wouldn’t survive the period, though, as Dawson Springer scored for Melville to tie things up.

In the extra period, Springer scored his second of the game, giving the Millionaires the win.

The Midget AA Wings will be back in action Monday night. They travel to White City to face the Prairie Storm.
