A successful weekend for the Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings, as they improved to 2-0 on the season.

It started Saturday, when they traveled to Moose Jaw to face the Midget Warriors. Weyburn came away from the game with a 7-2 win.

Matt Anderson scored before the game was five minutes old, and the Wings never looked back. Baron Lawrence assisted on the goal for the Wings.

While the Warriors tied things up just over a minute later, Kyler Douglas restored the lead with an unassisted goal just past the halfway mark of the first. Before the period ended, Rylan Neiszner, assisted by Ty Stadnick, made it a 3-1 Weyburn game.

Douglas’ second goal of the game, on the power play tw and a half minutes into the second period, made it a 4-1 game. Brogan Schmeltzer and Gavin Doud assisted on the goal. Cooper Kopec was set up by Thomas Goranson and Braden Birnie on Weyburn’s second power play goal of the night with 8:16 left on the clock in the second.

The Warriors would add one more goal, a power play marker, with 59 seconds remaining in the period.

In the third, the Wings finished the rout, with Mitchell McDonald scored at the 1:44 mark of the third period. The assists on the goal went to Douglas and Schmeltzer. Stadnick then rounded out the scoring for the game two minutes later, assisted by Kyle Perras and Matthew Daunheimer.

Sunday evening, the Wings took the ice against the Regina Vics.

Matt Anderson scored twice, and Braden Birnie added two assists, as the Wings beat the Vics 4-3.

Douglas and Schmeltzer also scored for the Wings, and Jaxon Robertson earned the win in goal. The Wings are now 3-0 on the season.
