It has been a strong start to the season for Weyburn Minor Football, with all three teams coming away from the opening weekend of the season with decisive wins.

It started Friday night when the Bantam Young Fellow Falcons traveled to Estevan to face the Oilers. The Falcons took the first game of the season by a final of 29-6.

From there, the Pee Wee PAR Contracting Ravens played host to the Moose Jaw Lions Monday afternoon at Darold Kot Field. The Ravens proved to be a tough opponent for the visitors, winning 54-0.

The domination by Weyburn teams continued Tuesday night, as the week closed out with a visit by the Pee Wee Crescent Point Eagles to Moose Jaw for a match-up with the Mustangs. The Eagles would shut out the home team 33-0.

There will be just two teams from the Weyburn Minor Football program in action this weekend. The Pee Wee Ravens host the Assiniboia Rockets at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, while the Bantam Falcons head up to Moose Jaw to play the Razorbacks. The Pee Wee Eagles have a bye week.

The high school football season starts this week as well. The WCS Eagles, coached by Darren Abel, will start their season on Saturday. They host the Swift Current Colts at Darold Kot Field, with kickoff at 1:00 p.m.
