The Weyburn Red Wings are beginning to gain a lot of recognition around the league. This week, it is once again coming in the form of player of the week honours.

Defenseman Erik Olson has again been named the SJHL’s Defenseman of the Week. The 20-year-old blueline from Delta, BC notched two goals and four assists in three games last week. Those came with a three-point effort Wednesday against Melville, then followed it up with three more points against Kindersley on Friday. So far this season, Olson has amassed 15 goals and 17 assists from the blue line in 32 games.

The rookie of the week is another player from Weyburn who isn’t a stranger to the honour. Forward Jordan Kazymyra has again been named the league’s Rookie of the Week. The Regina native had two goals and three assists against the Kindersley Klippers on the weekend. He started with two goals and an assist Friday night, then chipped in two more assists Saturday night, helping power Weyburn to wins on both evenings.

The Red Wings are back in action Wednesday night, as they host the Melville Millionaires. The game will be the last game before the Christmas break for the Wings.
