With a pair of road games in two different arenas against the same team, it was a weekend with a bit of travel for the Pee Wee AA Young Fellow Wings. They were able to adjust, though, and split the games against the Pee Wee Warriors.

Saturday, the Wings found themselves on the short side of the scoreboard, falling 5-3.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period, with Moose Jaw scoring the opener. Weyburn replied when Kegan Ksenych found the back fo the net on the power play. Silas Stein picked up the lone assist on the goal.

The Warriors would regain the lead in the second, with a goal just 5:42 into the frame. Weyburn would again reply, with another power-play goal, this time from the stick of Owen Istace. Conner Kerr and Stein picked up the helpers on the goal. The Warriors would continue the pressure, though, pulling away with two more goals, and building up a 4-2 lead after 40 minutes.

In the third period, Stein pulled the Wings within one, as he found the back of the net early in the period. Kerr and Nolan Zelyck would provide the assists on the goal. A late marker by Moose Jaw, though, would put the game out of reach for Weyburn.

Sunday, the two teams met again, this time at the Red Knight Arena at CFB Moose Jaw. The Wings bounced back from the defeat Saturday and trounced Moose Jaw 8-3.

Ksenych again found himself scoring the first goal of the game for the Wings, as he found the back of the net just 6:28 into the period. Brennan Brown had the helper on the goal. Stein then added to the lead just over a minute later with an unassisted goal, making it 2-1 Weyburn.

Before the first period was over, the Warriors managed to get on the board with a short-handed goal, but the Wings were already gearing up to take over the game.

In the second period, Istace would notch his second of the weekend as he scored on the power play just 1:10 into the frame. Noah Kopec had the assist on the goal. Langston Gold then made it 4-1 Weyburn, assisted by Kerr.

Moose Jaw wasn’t done yet, as they scored with just over six minutes remaining, but Weyburn quickly replied as Morgan LaCoste score with Ksenych getting the assist. Bennett McCarthy then made it 6-2 Weyburn with a power-play goal with 5:18 left on the clock.

Before the second period was over, Moose Jaw would score again, their third and final goal of the game.

Weyburn would continue the domination in the third, as Ksenych scored his second of the game, a shorthanded marker assisted by Stein and Kopec. Stein would then round out the scoring for the day with his second of the game, an unassisted power-play goal.

J’Anne Colbow had the win in goal for the Pee Wee AA Wings Sunday, while Josh Wiens was tagged with the loss on Saturday.

The Wings will look to improve their 2-1-1 record this coming weekend when they are on the road for a pair of games. Saturday, they are in Carlyle for a matchup against Estevan. Sunday, they head to Melville to play the Millionaires.
