Zach Frazier is congratulated at home plate by Josh Trybuch after hitting his second home run of the season, a lead off solo shot in the fourth inning. Ryan Johnson and Carson Perkins combined for a dominating performance on the mound, while Luis Jimenez and Zach Frazier hit home runs, as the Weyburn Beavers routed the Melville Millionaires 9-1 Wednesday night. Johnson started the game for the Beavers and had the Millionaires fanning through all five innings pitched. He threw 11 strikeouts while holding Melville off the board. He gave up just three hits in his time on the mound. Perkins took over in the sixth inning and had eight strikeouts of his own over four innings. He allowed three hits as well and was tagged with the lone run, although it wasn’t earned. The two pitched combined for 19 strikeouts, which is a new team record for strikeouts in a game for the Beavers.

“Me and RJ both had our stuff going today. We both looked like we were throwing hard, felt good, so came out and threw strikes through nine innings, and had them fanning most of the night,” Perkins said after the game.

The Beavers were also helped out at the plate, beginning in the first inning. Jimenez hit a leadoff home run off for the second time this season, sending a shot to straightaway center.

In the third, Ulysses Fluellen had his 26th RBI of the season, bringing Jimenez across the plate. A sacrifice fly from Brady Nygaard, and a single to third base by Carlos Flores added two more runs in the inning.

Frazier started the fourth inning with his second home run of the season, a blast to left field. Tyler Scott would then double to center, scoring Jimenez, and ending the night for Melville’s starting pitcher Michael Pagacik. One more run would be cashed in in the inning, as Nygaard brought home Scott with a single to center. The Beavers would round out their scoring in the seventh with two more runs, courtesy RBI’s from Cam Williams and Wade Weinburger.
