The Weyburn Beavers were held off the scoreboard until the fifth inning Thursday night and could get a sustained rally going to close the gap, as they fell 8-3 to the Regina Red Sox. The loss ended a six game winning streak for the Beavers, as they slip back into third in the WMBL East Division. The Beavers are now a game and a half back of Swift Current for first in the division and a half game back of Regina for second.

The Red Sox were first on the board, when Aden Campbell hit his eighth home run of the season, a three run blast.

The Red Sox were held off the board until the fourth inning when they put up five runs. It started with a single to right field by Junior Fermin that cleared the bases. From there, Fermin was brought in by Antonio Torres, and Aden Campbell would get his fourth RBI of the night when he doubled to center.

In the fifth, Luis Jimenez brought in Ty Scott with bases loaded, but a pop up by Zach Mathis ended the inning before the Beavers could continue to capitalize on the base runners. In the seventh, Mathis would bring home a run, as his single to right cashed in Zach Frazier.

In the ninth inning, it looked like the Beavers were threatening to rally to potentially tie the game, or even take the lead. A single by Carlos Flores and Frazier was hit by a pitch. Then, Jimenez was walked. This loaded the bases for Mathis, who did bring in one run, before being put out at first base. Weidner would then strike out, ending the inning.

The Beavers will now get ready to hit the road for two games. They will be traveling to Yorkton Friday night, and Moose Jaw Saturday night. Weyburn closes out the regular season Sunday when they host the Yorkton Cardinals.
