The Weyburn Red Wings will be looking to capitalize on their success last night, when they take on the Kindersley Klippers for game two of the best-of-five survivor series.

The Wings saw scoring from some of their veteran leaders, with Cole Woodliffe, Ian Parker and Connor Burk finding the twine. Carter Phair was solid in net, stopping all 30 shots faced for the shutout. They Wings will need to have those players continue to step up, as they look to put the Klippers on the ropes when the series moves to Kindersley for game three.

Special teams will also need to continue to be strong. Weyburn killed off all four penalties last night, and scored two power play goals. The success when up or down a man will take a team far in the postseason, and Weyburn has shown they can perform when needed.

The Klippers also played an extremely physical game, with the puck spending much of the first half of the game in the Weyburn zone. The hard forecheck, and willingness to take the body set a tempo for the game, but once Weyburn found ways to counter it, they outshot Kindersley 27-21 in the final 40 minutes. While a shot on goal doesn't necessarily mean goals, it owns mean a team is holding on to the puck, and maintaining possession is something the Wings have excelled at this year.

The crowd also plays a factor. For the Klippers, they have been averaging less than 500 fans a game all season long, so playing in front of a raucous crowd in another barn could have an impact on how they approach the game. The Red Wings, though, are used to it, and many of the players have said how they feed off the energy they get from the hometown fans.

When the puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at Crescent Point Place tonight, the Wings will be looking to pick up another win on their road to the Canalta Cup. You can listen to the game live on Red Wing Radio K106, starting with the pregame show at 7:20 p.m.
