With a new look to their forward unit, the Red Wings rallied late and won in overtime to steal two points from the Notre Dame Hounds on Saturday night. The neutral site game in Moosomin, Sask. ended in a wild way with the Red Wings coming back from the dead to pull out the win.

Captain Cade Kowalski scored his second of the game with just 18 seconds left to tie things up at 2–2 and force overtime. In the extra session, defenceman Carson Scheschuk would unload on a one-timer for his sixth goal of the season and the game-winner for Weyburn.

After a slow start the Wings rallied in the third period and battled back twice to tie the game. Notre Dame's Marshall Wilton scored just under two minutes into the game and that would be the lone goal through 40 minutes. The teams traded chances and powerplays, but both goaltenders came to play on this night. Riley Lamb stopped 39 of 41 and Riley Kohonick made 37 saves on 40 shots.

For the second night in a row it was the Red Wings powerplay that sparked them offensively. Cade Kowalski tied things up at one early in the third period with the man advantage. It was his 10th of the year, however, he wasn't finished. The Hounds looked destined for victory after Sho Takai scored with 1:24 to go to restore the one-goal lead.

With the net empty and the Red Wings all over the Hounds for most of the third period, Kowalski delivered a clutch goal to tie the game late in the period. In overtime, after Notre Dame's Kyle Robinson was sent off for tripping, the Red Wings set up the powerplay and it was finished off by Scheschuk. The primary assist on the goal went to hometown hero Jevon Schwean, who received a loud roar when his name was announced over the PA system.

The win is number eight on the year for the Wings, who have now won back-to-back games and three of their last four. They now sit with 18 points in the standings and sit just six points back of Estevan for top spot in the Viterra Division — with two games in hand as well.

This weekend was a long time coming and will certianly feel good for the players and coaching staff. Notre Dame is no slouch of an opponent, and the Wings swept them in the weekend series. Next action for Weyburn is on Wednesday night in Melville where they will look to make it three in a row against a team chasing them in the standings.
