With the December 1 trade deadline quickly approaching, the Weyburn Red Wings have added another piece to the puzzle. Forward Drew Anderson has been acquired from the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in exchange for future considerations.

It's a move that adds depth and experience to the roster. Anderson is a 20-year-old with 116 games of CJHL experience. Anderson is off to a hot start this season, with 11 points in 11 games. His efforts earned him the Player of the Month Award in September for the MJHL.

Red Wings General Manager Tanner McCall has been active this season and shown he's not afraid of adding outside talent. The recent additions of two 20-year-olds show this team is committed to winning this season, despite their recent struggles. McCall is looking forward to getting Anderson in the lineup.

"Anderson is a good two-way player, he can play center or the wing. He has good speed and leadership qualities, along with a veteran presence. We expect him to contribute offensively and play a lot of different situations of us,"  McCall said in a statement.

The Portage la Prairie native has been with the team since Thursday morning and more than likely will be on the ice this weekend when the Red Wings take on the Notre Dame Hounds. With healthy bodies back in the lineup, the Wings suddenly find themselves with a host of veteran forwards all capable of playing top line minutes. Between Cade Kowalski, Ben Hiltz, Ty Brown, Jordan Kazymyra, Sean Olson, Connor Pyne, Zac Gladu and Will Cruise, teams should be worried about having to deal with those forwards on a nightly basis. Throw in Jacob Piller, Rhett Frey, Burke Johnstone and Justin Plett and that's a lot to contend with game in and game out.

You can catch a first glimpse of the new look Red Wings on Friday night when the Notre Dame Hounds visit Crescent Point Place.
