The Weyburn Red Wings held their annual Red and White game Sunday afternoon, and the fans in attendance were given a thrilling performance by the players looking to wear the jersey this season. Team Red took the win, thanks to a pair of goals in the third period from Ty Brown, by a score of 5-2.

Team White seemed to have control of the game, outshooting their opponents, with the team including Ben Hiltz and Jordan Kazymyra, two of the offensive sparks last season for the Red Wings. The goaltending at both ends throughout the game was strong, however. Cody Levesque started for Team White, while Liam McCloskey got the nod for Team Red. Halfway through the game, the goaltenders were swapped out, with Jordan Berchiminsky and Joseph Young coming on to replace Levesque and McCloskey respectively.

Kazymyra had a good game, factoring in on both of Team White’s goals. He set up rookie Bryce Krauter with a pretty little cross-crease pass in the first period, then scored a goal of his own in the second.

Khale Skinner, from Norglenwold, Alberta, had a decent game as well, with a goal and an assist for Team Red. Also impressing was Braden Birnie. The 17-year-old Weyburn native was on a line with Brown for the game and had two assists.

The Red Wings will now get set for their opening pre-season game Tuesday night. They will host the Notre Dame Hounds. The Red Wings make the return trip to Wilcox Wednesday night.
