Jordon Miller notched a hat trick, as the captain of the Redvers Rockets helped power his team to a 7-1 win over the Carlyle Cougars in game one of the best-of-five Big Six quarterfinal series.

The Rockets came out strong right off the bat, with Kevin Mann scoring just three minutes into the first period, with Koltyn Miller and Drew Hoff getting the assists. It would take a while, but Jordon Miller scored his first 12 minutes later, with the assist going to Hoff, one of four he earned on the veening. Just over a minute later, the Rockets made it 3-0 when Todd Gervais scored, with Devon Wolensky and Koltyn Miller getting the helpers.

Carlyle would respond before the period was out. Phil Doucet slipped the puck past Redvers netminder Thomas Bauche with 2:48 left on the clock. Brett Turgeon and Kelly Currie were credited with the assists.

In the second, the Rockets picked things right back up where they were left off. Hoff scored with 8:03 left on the clock in the period, with Mann and Jordon Miller getting the assists. Miller would then get his second of the game moments later, with Hoff and Travis Poirier assisting. Miller would complete the hat trick just over a minute late, with Colby Potapinski and Ryan Yates helping him out.

Yates would get a goal himself just 1:01 into the third period, with Hoff getting his fifth point of the night, and the other assist coming from Koltyn Miller.

The two teams will meet for game two of the best-of-five next Tuesday in Carlyle.
