A number of runners from Weyburn were in Regina Sunday for the annual Queen City Marathon. The event features races of varying distances, from the full 42.2k to 10k races.

Weyburn’s Gerry Nagy ran the full marathon and finished third overall with a time of 3:01:43. He was also first in his age grouping.

There were two other runners from Weyburn in the full marathon. John Fenwick finished the race in 4:40:04, while Doug Loden completed the circuit in 5:24:36.

The half-marathon saw a large contingent from Weyburn competing. Glenn Rogers had the top time of all Weyburnites in the half-marathon, finishing in a time of 1:38:51. His time was good for him to finish sixth in his age group. The top woman from Weyburn was Laure Speers, who wrapped up the race in 1:58:38.

In the 10k, there were a number of strong times from Weyburn. Matthew Dupont finished the course in 52:02, and was second in his age group. Susan Husband wasn’t far behind, finishing the race in 54:26, and was third in her age group.

Also running in the 10k race were Constables Jeff Bartsch and Melinda Mintenko from the Weyburn Police Service. The duo ran the race in full uniform. This was the second year Bartsch has made the run, and it was the first time for Mintenko.
