After announcing their first pair of commits for next season, the Weyburn Red Wings are proud to announce Liam Rutten (01) will be joining the team for the 2019/2020 season.

Rutten, a forward, is currently playing with the Tisdale Trojans in the Midget AAA league and has already suited for three games as a Red Wing. He may be small in stature, but Rutten is a competitor who is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team. That was on full display earlier this season when he threw a couple of big hits at the SJHL level.

"He is a fearless player who leads by example every night and will be a fan favourite in Weyburn," Red Wings general manager Tanner McCall noted. "Liam and his Trojan teammates finished second overall in the league and play their first-round playoff series vs. the Beardy's Blackhawks."

The Alameda, Sask. native has 15 goals and 25 points in 43 games this year with Tisdale. It's his second season with the Trojans and he also recorded 42 penalty minutes this year. He's not afraid to go to the dirty areas and mix it up.

"Liam can chip in on both special teams and leads the Trojans in shorthanded goals on the season. Welcome to Weyburn Liam," McCall said.

Rutten will continue to play out the rest his season, before hopefully attending the Red Wings spring camp in the coming weeks.
