The Saskatchewan Hockey Association is cancelling the Sask First male Bantam and Midget events which were scheduled for this coming weekend. In an email sent out Monday by the president of the Saskatchewan Hockey Association, Kelly McClintock, explained the decision was made in the wake of the tragic bus accident Friday involving the Humboldt Broncos.

The decision was made the events will not be rescheduled for a later date.

Those involved in the Sask First Bantam Program, which includes Weyburn’s Rylan Erb, the evaluations held in December will serve as a basis for the decision on which players will move on in the process to put together a team for the Canada Winter Games in February of next year.

The Sask First Midget Program includes Jaxon Robertson, Braden Birne, Kyle Perras, Joel Niemegeers, Matthew Daunheimer, Todd Johnson, Rylan Neiszner, and Gavin Doud from the John Hulbert Construction AA Wings.

It was also announced all fees will be refunded.
