Friday, August 18th marks the start of the Second Annual Nickle Lake Classic. The Classic is a fundraising slow-pitch tournament that raises money for local sports.

"This is a local fundraiser for just a local charity," says Lee Tytlandvik Vice President of Nickel Lake Slow Pitch. "Last year we supported Weyburn Minor Ball, bats and helmets and just all the general equipment that they needed."

There are already 15 teams signed up so they are hoping to raise money for another good cause this year.

"This year we're supporting the local MMA Fight Club," says Tytlandvik. "We're going to be buying all the kids all the safety equipment for the training and just to help them through and make sure they're safe."

The Classic opens today Friday at 4:00 p.m. with the first game starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday start at 9:30 a.m. and run all day.

Besides the game, there are also raffles and prizes and even a home run derby on Saturday.
