The season is over for the Wawota Flyers. While they were out of the Big Six Playoffs, they were still competing in the SHA Senior D playdowns, taking on Craik in the south semi-finals in a two-game, total point series.

The Flyers entered the game Saturday night with a steep hill to climb, as they trailed Craik 10-3 after the first game on February 23rd. The Flyers, though, had home ice advantage for the second and final game of the series.

Craik came out firing, though, and would win the game 6-5, taking the series by an aggregate of 16-8.

Riley Riddell and Ryan Taylor led the way for the Flyers, who tried to rally back into the series. Riddell finished the night with two goals and an assist, while Taylor had two goals and two assists in the loss. The other goal scorer for Wawota was Kent Sauter.

Craik had a balanced attack, with four different goal scorers for their six goals. They were led by Mike Reich and Ryan Usher who had two goals each. Jonny Reich and Jared Broderson had a goal each in the win.

The Carnduff Red Devils are off to the SHA Senior B southern finals. They played the Rocanville Tigers Saturday night in the second game of their two-game, total point series, and picked up a 7-2 victory on home ice. This gave them an 11-5 win on aggregate, advancing to the next round of the playoffs.

Carnduff was led by Derek Cooney, Jake McMillen and Trevor Geiger, who had two goals each in the win. Also chipping in was Matt Audette who scored a goal and added two assists.

A number of Red Devils ended the night with multiple points, as Cooney also added two helpers, Dylan Herzberg had three assists and McMillen had two assists as well.

With the win, the Red Devils will be playing the winner of the series between Wynyard and Esterhazy. Their series wrapped up on Sunday, but the score was not available Monday morning.

The winner of the south final advances to take on the winner out of the north.

The Redvers Rockets are finished with the SHA Provincials. On Saturday, they beat the Theodore Buffalos 5-4 in the second match of their two-game, total point series. However, with Theodore winning the first game 6-4, it meant the Buffalos would be advancing, picking up a 10-9 series win.

Brady Gaudet led the way for the Rockets. He had two goals and an assist on the loss. Ben Johnstone, Wyatt Garagan and Drew Hoff added singles in the win.

Despite the loss, the season isn’t quite over yet for the Rockets.

They resume play in the Big Six semi-finals Monday night. They host Carnduff for game three of their best-of-five series. The series is currently tied up 1-1.
