The SHSAA girls provincial volleyball championships open up Friday in Weyburn, with ten teams converging on Weyburn Comprehensive School, looking to be the top senior girls’ volleyball team in the province.

The WCS Eagles, as hosts, automatically qualified for the event. They will open up play Friday afternoon against Swift Current in the Eagles Gym at WCS. They follow it up with a game against Prince Albert Carlton at 3:15 p.m., then they play Saskatoon St. Joseph at 5:30 p.m.

The Eagles then close out the round-robin Saturday morning against Regina Miller.

The medal rounds start at 12:45 p.m. in the Cugnet Centre and wrap up with the gold medal game at 5:45 p.m. Saturday in the Eagles Gym.

While the girls’ provincial title will be contested in Weyburn, the WCS Eagles senior boys’ volleyball team is in Regina, playing in the provincial tournament there.

The Eagles open play in the tournament at Riffel High School in Regina Friday afternoon, taking the court against Prince Albert St. Mary’s at 12:00 p.m. WCS then plays Regina Campbell at 3:15 p.m. and close out the day against Balgonie Greenall at 6:30 p.m.

Weyburn then plays Saskatoon Centennial Saturday morning at 11:15 a.m. in the last round-robin game for the pool.

The boys’ tournament has the medal round starts at 12:45 p.m. Saturday and concludes at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at Winston Knoll Collegiate in Regina.
