It had been previously rumored but is now official. The SJHL and MJHL will be joining up for an All-Star Showcase involving both leagues in January.

The showcase, which will be held in Regina, will see 60 players from each league, separated on to three teams. The players will be selected by the coaches of the respective leagues. The teams will then meet for a series of games January 15th and 16th.

SJHL president Bill Chow had hinted at the announcement in an interview with Discover Weyburn earlier this week. In a release Thursday, he said the showcase will help players be able to demonstrate their talents in front of scouts from the NCAA, CIS, and NHL.

The president of the MJHL, Kim Davis, said his league was extremely excited about the collaboration, knowing it will help promote the players and the leagues.

The showcase will be held at the Co-operators Centre in Regina. The dates mean teams from the SJHL will not lose any players for regular season games, as there are no games scheduled for the week the showcase will be held.
