The SJHL schedule for the 2018-19 season was released Wednesday afternoon. The regular season will kick off on September 12th, and end on March 5th.

The Weyburn Red Wings open the season at home on September 14th. They will be hosting the Yorkton Terriers at Crescent Point Place. Unlike most seasons, however, they won’t be playing a home and home with the Terriers. Before they make the trek to Yorkton, they will host the Melville Millionaires on September 19th.

The annual Showcase in Warman will be held from September 23rd to 26th. The Red Wings will play two games there. The first will be September 24th against the La Ronge Ice Wolves. The second game will be at 10:00 a.m. the next day against the Battlefords North Stars.

The first time the Wings take on the Humboldt Broncos will be in October. They host the Broncos on October 5th at Crescent Point Place.

The defending SJHL champions, the Nipawin Hawks, will visit Weyburn on October 19th.

Weyburn will embark on their first lengthy road trip on October 23rd, when they head to Melfort to kick off four games in five nights. The trip will include stops in La Ronge, Flin Flon and Nipawin. They will take the same trip in late November, again starting in Melfort, but then heading to Flin Flon, then La Ronge and Nipawin.

There is one neutral site game on the schedule for the Wings, aside from the SJHL Showcase. They will be off to Moosomin on November 10th, where they will take on the Notre Dame Hounds.

The first meeting of the season between the Wings and the Estevan Bruins will be on December 15th, as the Bruins come to town. The game will also be the last one for the Wings before the annual Christmas break.

The season will resume for Weyburn on December 30th, when they head to Estevan to start the annual New Year’s home and home series. The return leg will be a matinee on New Year’s Day at Crescent Point Place. The last meeting between the Wings and Bruins will be on March 2nd in Estevan. The two teams will meet a total of eight times this year.
