The SJHL trade deadline has passed, and it was a fairly busy day on the wire. There were 13 trades in total in the league, involving 16 players. The busiest team in the league was the La Ronge Ice Wolves. The Weyburn Red Wings were quiet, with no trades reported.

Here are the deals which happened at the trade deadline:

  • La Ronge Ice Wolves moved Jason Bednarski to the Nipawin Hawks in exchange for a player development fee.

  • The Nipawin Hawks picked up Wayde Johannesson from the Wayway Wolverines of the MJHL in exchange for Caleb Paisley.

  • La Ronge traded Elijah Carels to the Wayway Wolverines for Marco Mazza

  • The Kindersley Klippers picked up Blake Kleiner from the Drumheller Dragons for a player development fee.

  • The Ice Wolves sent the rights of Zac Gladu to the Drayton Valley Thunder (AJHL) in exchange for Tymen Edelkoort and a player development fee.

  • The Humboldt Broncos moved McKullen Astill to the South Shore Lumberjacks (MHL) for a player development fee.

  • The Broncos then acquired Nick Shumlanski from the Flin Flon Bombers for future considerations.

  • The Battleford North Stars traded for Garan Magnes from the Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL) for a player development fee.

  • La Ronge obtained Damon Porter from the Calgary Mustangs (AJHL) for a player development fee.

  • The Ice Wolves then flipped Tymen Edelkoort to the Dryden Ice Dogs (SIJHL) in exchange for a player development fee.

  • The Estevan Bruins picked up Bryce Platt from the Canmore Eagles in exchange for a player development fee.

  • The Battleford North Stars sent Jacob Tibbats to the Lloydminster Bobcats (AJHL) in exchange for Cole Johnson.

  • The Ice Wolves also moved Daniel Chartrand to the Swan Valley Stampeders (MJHL) in exchange for Sam Harris and future considerations.

Junior A teams in Canada are now frozen when it comes to making any trades. Teams are also limited in signing new players, as they have to have the active roster down to 23 players, plus any affiliated players.
