Sharon Styles put in a strong performance at the Great White North Half-Ironman race in Stony Plains, Alberta on the weekend, with her time of 4:39:22 the fastest among all the women competing in the event.

Styles started out with a strong swim and was the fifth out of the pool with a time of 28:44.1. She would end up being the second to reach the interval, though, and was then off on the bike.

The 90-kilometre bike ride, which tests the endurance of nearly every competitor, saw Styles finish the segment in just under 2 ½ hours, and she was off to the run, which is 21.1 kilometres, or half a marathon.

Styles kept up the strong pace and finished the half-marathon in just over 90 minutes.

The performance in the race was not only the top female time, but Styles finished the race 15th overall.
