Graham DeLaet was looking for a solid round Sunday, to stay in the top-10 at the PGA Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Weyburn native pulled it out, earning his best-ever finish in a major, as he sat in a tie for seventh at the end of the day.

His round didn’t look like it would go the way he wanted, as a bogey on the second hole moved him to 1-over. DeLaet moved back to par on the next hole, as his second shot settled just feet from the pin, giving him the birdie with a short putt.

Another bogey, though, had him back above par on the fourth hole. On the seventh hole, a 546 yard par-5, he moved back to the even line, making the green in two shots. He had a chance at an eagle but just missed the first putt, settling for the birdie.

He then moved below par before making the turn, recording a birdie on the long par-4 ninth hole.

On the back half of the course, DeLaet held steady at 1-under until the thirteenth hole, when he bogeyed after missing the green on his tee shot on the par-3. He quickly moved back with a birdie on the next hole, after a monster drive put him on the green. He was thirty-five feet from the hole, and would two-putt for the birdie.

DeLaet closed out his round with a birdie on 18, with a strong second shot landing him just feet from the pin on the back of the green. He made the simple five-foot putt and notched the birdie. He finished the round with a 2-under 69 and finished the tournament at -4.

DeLaet will now prepare for his next scheduled tournament, the Northern Trust Open, which starts on August 24th.
