It was a busy holiday Monday on the diamonds around Weyburn.

Mosquito

The Mosquito AAA Element Beavers were in action on the weekend, playing a pair of doubleheaders. It all started for them on Sunday, when they took on the Lumsden Cubs for a pair of games.

In the first game, the Beavers came away with the win, edging past Lumsden 9-8. In the second game, it was the Cubs who came out on top in a high scoring affair. The Cubs took the game by a final score of 20-13.

Sunday, the Beavers played the Swift Current 57’s for a pair of games. In the first game, the 57’s were the ones to hold on for a win, taking the game 12-11. The second game was a Weyburn victory, as they beat the 57’s 9-6.

The Beavers are now 5-7 on the season. They look to improve the record on Sunday when they host White Butte at Jubilee Park.

Bantam

The Bantam Blue Jays were in good position on Monday, holding a 7-6 lead late in the game against Radville at Jubilee Park.

A strong showing at the plate in the top of the sixth for the visitors, though, had Radville up 11-7 after they notched five runs. The Blue Jays rallied back with a pair in the sixth but would end up coming up just short in the game. They fell 11-9.
