Volleyball teams from Weyburn Comprehensive had success on the weekend, both on the home court and on the road.

The freshman A girls’ team was looking to extend their streak when they headed east to Portage, Manitoba. The team had picked up gold medals in their three previous tournaments.

The freshman Eagles went undefeated in the round robin of the six-team tournament, setting them up for a matchup in the semi-finals with Vincent Massey. They easily dispatched their opponent and advanced to the finals against the host team from Portage La Prairie. It would take just two sets, winning 25-21 and 25-13 for the Eagles to capture their fourth gold medal in a row.

The senior girls’ B team held their home tournament on the weekend. They went undefeated in the event and captured the gold medal. They will be heading to Estevan for a tournament this coming weekend, and wrap up their tournament season in Midale the following weekend.

The senior girls’ A team travelled to Saskatoon on the weekend, taking part in the St. Joseph’s TCU Garden Cup tournament. Teams from Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon would be the opposition in the round robin of the tournament, and the Eagles came in third in pool play. They crossed over to take on Wakaw in the quarterfinals, but fell in three sets, finishing fifth in the event.

The senior girls will now get set for the second round of the Co-op Challenge, which will be played Monday in Estevan. They then head to Saskatoon Thursday for the Mustang Tournament.
