The McLeod series tipped off Wednesday night at the Cugnet Centre, as the Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles renewed their storied rivalry with the Estevan Elecs. The two games started the 82nd edition of the McLeod Series.

In the first game, the senior boys took to the court. The Eagles took an early lead, up 22-20 and 42-41 after the first and second quarters, but then the Elecs rallied back. Estevan took the lead after the third 61-58, and then held on to edge out Weyburn 79-75.

In the senior girls game immediately afterwards, the Elecs jumped out to an early 20-15 lead after the first, but the Eagles came back strong in the second quarter, and entered halftime up 32-31. In the third quarter, the Eagles expanded their lead to 56-42, before completing the comeback to take a 71-61 lead.

The series now stands at 1-1, but the Eagles hold a six point advantage (146-140). The two teams will meet again for the final leg of the series next Wednesday in Estevan.
