It was outstanding defence that helped the Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles senior boys basketball team advance to the championship final at the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association (SHSAA) 4A division provincial championships being held in Regina this weekend.

With a 93-55 win over Saskatoon's Bedford Road Friday afternoon, the Eagles secured their spot in the 4A boys final matchup against Moose Jaw Central Saturday at Regina Luther at 7 p.m.

Paul Dionne was the top scorer for the Eagles with 30 points.

The Eagles senior girls basketball team dropped down to the 4A girls bronze medal match after a tough 57-37 loss to Melfort Friday afternoon.

The girls will face North Battleford for the bronze medal at 11 a.m. Saturday at the University of Regina Gym 1.
