Mar 26: Emily Haupstein and her rink from Weyburn with a tough loss in yesterday's C event at the under-18 women's provincial curling championship in Moose Jaw.

(Photo courtesy Discover Moose Jaw)Skip Haupstein, third Shayla Moore, second Emma Wiens and lead Abbey Johnson had the lead through five ends but Skylar Ackerman and her rink from Moose Jaw had a strong 6th and 8th ends to take the game 10-4.

The loss knocked the Haupstein rink out of the championship.

The Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre hosted 24 teams for the 2017 CurlSask Under-18 Provincial Championships and featured men, women and open divisions.


Mar 25: Emily Haupstein and her rink from Weyburn are trying to make their way through the C Event Saturday at the under-18 women's provincial curling championship in Moose Jaw.

Skip Haupstein alongside third Shayla Moore, second Emma Wiens, lead Abbey Johnson and coach Danette Tracey are on the ice at noon to face the host team Skylar Ackerman and her rink from the Moose Jaw.

If the Weyburn squad wins, they will advance to the second round of the C event at 4 p.m. Saturday.

They must win all their remaining games to continue as they currently sit 1-2 in the championship so far.

The Weyburn team lost their first game 9-3 in six ends Friday morning to Ashley Thevenot and her rink from Naicam.

The girls bounced back Friday afternoon with a 8-5 victory over Rayel Martin's rink from Biggar.

But, Jessica Thompson and her rink from the Saskatoon Granite Curling Club proved to be tough competition as they handed the Haupstein rink their second loss with a 9-3 win Friday evening.
