A night after the Weyburn Red Wings got back in the win column, it appears they had victory snatched away from them via the referees. The Battlefords North Stars banged away at a loose puck in the crease and it looked like goaltender Riley Lamb was able to pull it off the goalline. The goal judge didn't initially signal a goal, but referee Bryce Sebastian was adamant it was a good goal.

It would turn out to be the game-winner with just 4:51 to go in a 3–2 game. North Stars goalie Joel Gryzbowski made some excellent saves to preserve the lead, including one with his goal stick late in the game. The shots favoured Battlefords in the game, but the Red Wings had the more dangerous chances throughout.

Zac Gladu continued his hot start to his Red Wings career. He tallied a shorthanded goal just over six minutes into the contest on a lucky bounce. His shot went wide, but redirected back in front and off the pad of Gryzbowski and in. He now has two goals in five games on the season.

Not to be outdone, the North Stars would get a shorty of their own before the first intermission. Brett Gammer was left all alone in front and shelved it following a Red Wing turnover in their own zone. After 20 minutes the teams would be even at one.

The visitors would grab their first lead of the game midway through the middle period. Rookie Tanner Robin picked up his second assist of the game and Quinton Loon-Stewardson fired it five-hole on Lamb.

After a rest, the Red Wings would come out flying in the third. Sean Olson finished off a nifty passing play backdoor and tipped in a pass from Cade Kowalski. Carson Scheschuk picked up the other assist on the play. The teams would trade chances, hits and saves through most of the third period before the mad scramble in front that lead to the controversial goal.

Weyburn pulled their goalie late looking for the equalizer but was unable to find the back of the net. The loss is their second of the season to Battlefords, both by a score of 3–2.

The Wings will now get a week of rest and practice before hitting the ice again. They're in for a modified home-and-home series with the Notre Dame Hounds. Game one goes Friday night at Crescent Point Place, while game two goes Saturday night in Moosomin, Sask. The red and white will look for revenge after their 4–2 loss to the Hounds back on October 16.
