When the rosters for the three SJHL teams for the upcoming SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina were announced, there was one player not selected which had many scratching their heads as to why. Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings netminder Joseph Young was not selected for the game.

When the rosters were announced, Young was leading the SJHL in nearly every goaltending statistic, a feat which is impressive for any goaltender, let alone an 18-year-old rookie.

The omission seems to have been corrected, though. Young was named as the replacement for Matt Sankner of the Kindersley Klippers, who will be missing the Showcase with an injury. Young will be one of the two goaltenders for Team Schwartz, which is comprised of players 18 and under who play in the SJHL.

After his shutout of the Estevan Bruins Saturday night, Young now leads the league with four shutouts. He has also posted a league-leading GAA of 2.16, and his save percentage of .936 is the top in the league as well.

Young will be joining teammate Braden Birnie at the Showcase, which will start in Regina Tuesday.
