Emergency keys on phones are great, but they can sometimes lead to accidental 911 calls.

"We don't get a lot of unnecessary 911 calls," Inspector Rod Stafford with the Weyburn Police Service. "If we do it's often a pocket dial from a cell phone or typically youngs kids playing with the telephone."

The Weyburn Police Service understand that these types of accidents happen, however, when these calls occur the police often have to investigate.

"We are bound by law to investigate that," says Inspector Stafford. "If that means going to your house or place of business and checking it out and demanding entry then we have to do that."

If a person is constantly calling 911 then a criminal investigation could be the result.

Safety is the top concern for Weyburn Police so they ask that people co-operate in these types of situations.
