Christmas, although generally, a joyful occasion, can be a stressful time of year for some. The Salvation Army's "Adopt A Family" program allows families to apply for extra assistance at this time of year. The Weyburn Salvation Army is now accepting applications for assistance, until November 24.

Each year the need for this program increases, meaning that there is also a need for those adopting these families. Anyone wishing to adopt can contact the Salvation Army to pick up a package.

"In that package, it kind of has the details of the program, kind of has a price breakdown and what is all required of you and then you fill out the form and send it back," says Jennifer Lorinczy, Community Ministries Coordinator with the Weyburn Salvation Army. "Then close to December we will match you with the a family, it's all confidential."

It's not simply toys for children to have presents to open, it also includes food items for a dinner for the family to enjoy.

"Christmas time is hard, people need a little bit of extra help, buying toys for the kids or helping out with an extra meal, so you as a sponsor get to help those people out and make sure they have a good Christmas," says Lorinczy.

Everyone deserves to have a wonderful holiday season and this is a fantastic way to help ensure no one is left out.
