It won’t be the best conditions for Weyburn residents Thursday morning, as an Alberta Clipper is expected to blast through the region.

“What that’s going to do overnight, and because of the combination of the warm air and the colder temperatures coming from the north, there is a good risk of freezing rain beginning overnight,” explained Terri Lang, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada. The freezing rain will be combined with snow, as upwards of five centimetres is expected to fall in the region.

“So when people get up in the morning, it looks like it will be tricky driving conditions,” added Lang.

The system is expected to move through the region by the weekend, making way for cooler weather as a high-pressure system from the Arctic comes into the southeast. After the weekend, though, temperatures are expected to slightly warm up by the middle of next week.
