The Weyburn Arts Council will be hosting the 35th annual James Weir Peoples’ Choice exhibition and competition from January 8 to February 28, 2019. It seems like a ways away, but waiting for the Christmas season will be too late for artists. The deadline for artists to submit their registrations form for the show is fast approaching.

“To be included in the show, you need to have the Artist Registration Form, delivered to my office delivered via either in person or electronically is also fine, by December 20th,” said City Curator Regan Lanning.

She said no timing exceptions will be made for late registration.

“This is so that I can have all the name tags and all of the insurance and everything like that done and squared away before I can set up the show,” Lanning explained.

The Curator office is located at Signal Hill Arts Centre. Lanning noted, however, that she will also accept forms via email. Artist registration forms can be found HERE.

This will be the first year online voting will be available in addition to the in-person voting at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery. Lanning said, therefore, a publication ban has been placed on the works being shared on social media. The artists are also being asked not to sign their works.

"By not signing it, that should help it stay a little more anonymous," she said, noting that with Weyburn being a smaller community, voters may know whose piece it is, it just won't be signed.

Lanning added the artwork must be delivered to the Allie Griffin Art Gallery by January 7 at 10 a.m.
