It has been 47 days since Weyburn last saw a substantial rain event that lasts for more than two hours. Wednesday morning, the city woke up to cloudy skies, and light rain, which had been falling for most of the night.

Environment Canada called for the rain to begin in the evening Tuesday, but there were some earlier showers. They continued intermittently around the Weyburn area throughout the night, and then into the morning, with 6.1 millimeters being reported at 7:00 a.m. Upwards of 20 millimeters of rain is expected in the Weyburn area Wednesday.

The last time more than 15 millimeters of rain fell in a single day in Weyburn was on June 14th, when 38.6 millimeters fell over a 24-hour period. Since then, Weyburn has received sporadic rainfalls as part of storm systems moving through the region, but no real sustained rains.

The cooler temperatures and rainy weather are expected to linger for the next day or so. You can stay up to date with the latest with the five-day forecast.
