Anyone hoping to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals can attend a meeting next week. The Weyburn Humane Society will hold their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday evening.

“We need 12 board members,” said president Pam Arndt-Shick. “So we’re looking for new members all the time because there’s a couple that are going off the board.”

She said they’re also hoping for more volunteers.

“If you don’t want to be a board member, that’s fine. But if you want to put your name down for a volunteer for whenever we do any events and you want to help us organize things, that’s more than helpful,” she explained.

“We ask that if you want to join our board that you make yourself available for monthly meetings, so you know what’s going on,” said Arndt-Shick. “We make all the decisions. We decide for the fundraising, we decide to pay the bills, we decide to purchase things we need for the shelter, make repairs, all that kind of stuff.”

“A lot of the board members are volunteers as well, but up and above the 12 board members, we need extra volunteers,” she added. “When we have our community garage sale, or different bake sales or even Raise the Woof, those are big events that take a lot of planning or a lot of leg work, so we ask for volunteers to help us out.”

The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th at Zion Lutheran Church.
