Reports on social media surfaced Saturday evening stating the Weyburn Red Wings have parted ways with head coach Wes Rudy, hours before the team's matchup with the Estevan Bruins.

Rudy served as the Red Wings’ goaltender coach before moving into the assistant coach role for the 2015-16 season. He was then promoted to head coach for the 2016-17 season after the departure of Bryce Thoma.

Over his tenure as the bench boss, the Wings made the playoffs twice, advancing to the quarterfinals after making it through the wildcard round. This season, he has led the Wings to a record of 10-19-3-0.
