The August long weekend was a busy one for the Weyburn Police Service, with everything from arrests on drugs charges, to traffic tickets as part of the weekend.

The Combined Traffic Services Section was busy across the region.

Saturday, they responded to an accident at the intersection of Highway 39 and the turnoff to Nickle Lake. There were no reported injuries, although the Weyburn Fire Department and Weyburn EMS responded as well.

Later the same day, the CTSS held a high visibility check stop, with, as they phrased it on social media, a “sweet” deal was made with those who were driving sober.

On Monday, the CTSS, over the course of three hours in Yellow Grass, issued fifteen tickets for offences like speeding, using cell phones and not wearing a seatbelt. There were also five written warnings handed out.

Monday, the CTSS also reminding one motorist left turns are not allowed at the intersection of Souris Avenue and 3rd Street in downtown Weyburn. The driver received a $230 ticket.
