The seizure of a drug, rarely seen in Saskatchewan, by the Canada Border Services Agency last Monday, has one man facing charges under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. The seizure happened at the Port of Regway.

CBSA officers were examining a commercial vehicle crossing the border into Canada. The truck was bringing produce from California to Regina. During the examination, officers uncovered 694 grams of suspected doda in the cab.

Doda is a powdered opiate. It is made from crushed opium poppy pods and husks.

The driver of the truck was arrested and turned over to the RCMP in Radville. Kamaljit Singh Atwal, 43, from Surrey, B.C., was charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Tuesday.
