Weyburn Police Service received a call yesterday at 5:00 p.m. of a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of Coteau Avenue and Second Street.

“The vehicle was making a left-hand turn onto Second Street, when contact between the vehicle and a pedestrian was made,” said Constable Maralee McSherry, who arrived on the scene shortly after the incident. “EMS and police attended, and the female was transported to hospital with minor injuries.”

The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian.

“From the witness statements that were received, it appears that she was travelling at an acceptable speed,” said McSherry. “She just wasn’t paying attention. So, she wasn’t speeding through the intersection, she just failed to notice that there was a pedestrian crossing the street.”
