The City of Weyburn is going virtual for its annual sale of surplus equipment.

"This year with the COVID restrictions, we decided to go online with our sale, and partnered with MacDougall Bay Auctions,” explained Todd Bedore, the superintendent of public works with the City of Weyburn. “With all the health concerns and the public gathering, we decided to do it this way this year.”

The sale, as it does every year, will feature a variety of items. This includes public works equipment, office furniture and more. Bedore said there will even be something of historic interest at the auction.

“Tyndall stone from the old Souris Valley grounds,” Bedore said. “We’ve stored it for a while, and we’re using some of the pieces in the WRCC, but, selling that off as well, so just a little bit of everything.”

As in previous years, bicycles held by the Weyburn Police Service for over a year will be some of the items available. (file photo)This year, the sale might seem a little larger than usual. With the construction of a new public works building, some of the older items that are no longer needed are being included in the auction. The sale will also include bicycles that have gone unclaimed for more than a year from the Weyburn Police Service.

The auction is currently underway. Those interested in taking a look at what is available, or placing a bid, can do so on the MacDougall Bay website. There will also be the chance for the public to view some of the items in-person on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the public works building.

The auction closes on September 28th.
