Among the number of motions that were passed during last night's meeting of Weyburn City Council, the Water Treatment Plant 200 Upgrade Change Order was the first order of business.

Clark's Supply of Moose Jaw was chosen as the contractor for the upgrades being done the water treatment plant on 16th Street in Weyburn. The work will cost $946,500 in total, including contingency costs.

Councillors also read and passed a number of zoning bylaw amendments and changes.

One was for a home occupation for a business, and another was for a lot in the northeast to be rezoned and portioned into two separate lots.

There was also a rezoning done for the portion of 8th Avenue southwest to become part of Minard's Leisure World's RV storage lot facility.

Mayor Roy asked City Engineering Director Nader Keshta what many in the community want to know: when will Government Road be open?

Keshta said the plan is for the contractors to continue working on levelling out the road, so that even if moisture from precipitation prohibits paving before winter, there will at least be an even driving surface for traffic.

If weather conditions are favourable, Keshta said, paving will be done as late as Monday of next week.
