The Weyburn Fire Department released some good news for area residents ahead of the weekend. The fire ban, which has been in place in the city since last Tuesday, has been lifted.

The decision to lift the fire ban was made in light of all the rain received in Weyburn over the past three days. The fire ban which was in place at Nickle Lake has also been lifted thanks to the rain.

The fire department is reminding residents to ensure their backyard fires aren't a nuisance to neighbours by being mindful of the smoke and where it's heading. A permit is still required to have a fire pit in the city.

Fire bans do remain in place for all surrounding rural municipalities. including the RMs of Weyburn, Brokenshell, Lomond, Brock, Souris Valley, Tecumseh, Griffin, Laurier, and Cymri.
