The planning committee for this year's Communithon is looking for local talent to perform at this year's event.

The 2019 Communithon will return to the Legion and is hoping to get bands and musical artists to perform well into the evening this year. Of course, they will still have kids performances throughout the day, but they're hoping to bring back the sense of party and celebration to the fundraiser.

"We really want to dig up some of our local, homegrown Weyburn talent. We are hoping to bring back some of the things that used to be on the program and maybe haven't been there for a few years," said Jackie Wilson, a member of the Entertainment Committee for this year's event. "Hopefully some of these talented people we have will step forward and share their talents with us."

Any artists can apply before July 31 to have their name in the hat to be a performer. Auditions will then take place in September for those who applied.

Wilson added the auditions won't be as much about finding who's good and bad, but more so to see what they're working with and it offers a chance to celebrate the musical talents. It also serves as a rehearsal for those who will be performing on October 25.

"We want this to be a fun Communithon and a fun community event. We're excited to make it a fun and entertaining time for all of us — it's a time to celebrate Weyburn," she noted.

For those interested in performing at the 38th annual Communithon, time is running out. You will need to submit an application by the end of the month.

"They can apply by going to communithon.com and filling out a straightforward application form. It's easy to fill out and it will ask for basic information.," Wilson explained. "It will ask about the kind of performance you'll be doing, how many people will be involved and what kind of equipment you'll need."

The planning committee for this year's Communithon is hopeful this year can be a revival and bring back the glory days of the community fundraiser.
