Everyone here at Weyburn's Golden West offices of Discover Weyburn News and our three radio stations, AM 1190, K 106 and Magic 103, enjoyed our annual Community Celebration barbecue today over the lunch hour. The weather on this day could not have been better. The sun was shining, the wind was low and it was too hot for mosquitoes.

We welcomed anyone from the community at large who wanted to celebrate our great city together. We saw a large turnout, serving more than 400 hot dogs and filling the picnic tables along Souris Avenue between Third Street and Fourth Street with people who enjoyed lunch on us.

Weyburn Firefighters brought fire trucks to block off the area for the party. The 7th Avenue took the stage for the event. Magician Richy Roy entertained the line-up of people as they waited for their hot dogs and pop.

The Weyburn Public Library brought tables of information and activities, bringing along with them their button-making machine. The Weyburn Arts Council was in attendance, doing face-painting. The Family Place loaned us their barbecue and brought little cars and scooters for kids to play on during the event.

The community event was an overall success, with all proceeds from any donations received for the lunch going to the Weyburn Salvation Army Food Bank.

A big thank you goes out to everyone who attended and helped to make some new memories within our community.
