Dominion Energy has scheduled another public meeting to discuss its Stoughton refinery proposal.

The meeting will be held from 8:30 AM until noon on Wednesday, February 15th, Β at McKenna Hall in Weyburn, and will be aimed at potential contractors. "We would talk about some of the design basis, some of the earthworks, the structural mechanical content, trucking." said Keith Stemler, Chief Executive Officer of Dominion Energy Processing Group.

Last month, Stemler held a townhall meeting in Stoughton, where he fielded questions related to impacts on the local economy, jobs, and traffic and safety concerns.

Stemler said the session coming up in Weyburn will have a slightly different focus. "A little more on the construction basis more so than on an operational basis with the community. How it would change, you know, community awareness."

"So we can chart all the contractors, what disciplines they operate in. And then once we get into more of the co-ordination procedures, we'll be selecting the contractors from those types of procedures."

Meanwhile, Stemler said they are still in the proposal stage. The company requires permits from the provincial government before it can proceed with construction. The process will include environmental hearings.

Last fall, Dominion Energy revealed its plans for the plant, which would refine 40,000 barrels of Bakken crude oil every day.

It has purchased land adjacent to the Crescent Point gas plant, approximately 6 kilometres south of Stoughton.

Dominion, which is a Canadian subsidiary of Quantum Energy in the United States, hopes to negotiate a contract with Crescent Point as a provider of feedstock.
