When the City of Weyburn announced they were moving to bi-weekly garbage collection for the first 12 weeks of 2018, many were wondering about what to do if they have a large family. For some, their recycling bins are full after two weeks, and the garbage bins themselves are full as well.

City staff recommended to council the policy be tweaked to allow for families of seven or more to have a second bin for their garbage. The motion was passed by council unanimously.

The bi-weekly garbage collection also came with the city making some changes to the garbage collection schedule. Going forward, garbage collection will be on set days for each area. If there is a stat holiday which would impact the collection, the crews will cover two areas in one day to keep the schedule on track.
