Weyburn City Council will be meeting in chambers Monday night for their first meeting of the month. The agenda will include reports from standing committees, take a look at a group of bylaws, and hear from 7GB for a request for an extension on their work on the Douglas Heights Project.

The reports to be delivered to council Monday include the regular report from the Weyburn Police Commission, as well as the monthly report from the Water Treatment Plant. The report on the water treatment plant will include an update on the work on the new reservoir, as well as a look at the levels of Nickle Lake.

The bylaws before council will include changes to the Council Procedures Bylaw. The changes were introduced at the last meeting of the council and will be back for the second and third reading. Council will also introduce new bylaws governing the Leisure Services Commision, and the Arts Council.

One item on the agenda which is sure to garner a lot of attention is a request from 7GB Enterprises for an extension to complete the work on their Douglas Heights Project. The project has been ongoing for a number of years, with just two houses completed.

7GB is requesting an extension for their project to the end of September 30, 2019, with the plan to complete the work on the subdivision now moving to a three-phase project.

Council will also hear a request for a zoning change to allow for an old shop on 17th Street to be converted into a church, and a home-based occupation request for a home-based counselling business.

The meeting starts at City Hall at 5:00 p.m. We will have full coverage of the meeting on air and online.
